Introduction to Pricing Methods

You can determine a prescription's price in several ways. In addition to your base pricing method, you can use special pricing for third parties or a custom classes of drugs. You can also use variable pricing to determine the prescription price.

To view the Pricing tab, do the following:

  1. Select More > Pharmacy.
  2. Select the Pricing tab.

The above example shows four levels of pricing: Pharmacy (black), Pharmacy Custom Classes (green), Third Party (blue), and Third Party Custom Classes (red). The Pharmacy level is your base pricing method, and is used for all prescriptions unless overridden by a custom class level, a third party level, or a variable pricing method.

Information that is carried down from the previous level is shown in the previous level’s colour. For example:

  • The Drug Benefit level uses the same Mix $, Mkp. Cap, Fee Cap, and Mkp. Mix values as the Pharmacy level, so these numbers are black. If these fields change at the Pharmacy level, they will also change for the Drug Benefit level. Information set specifically for Drug Benefit is blue.
  • The Antibiotics custom class for Drug Benefit uses the same Method, Fee, and Mix$/min values as the Drug Benefit level, so these numbers are blue. If these fields change at the Drug Benefit level, they will also change for the Antibiotics level. Information set specifically for Antibiotics is red.
